Relations between Ethiopia and the European Union

Ethiopia and the European Community established their first official relations in 1973 when the two sides signed an aid agreement to help the victims of famine in the northern parts of Ethiopia.

The 1975 Georgetown Agreement on the establishment of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, and the Lome Convention, which established economic partnership between the European Community (EC) and the ACP, laid the foundation for the Ethiopia-EC relations.
